Rosters consist of 11 to 12 players as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement and follow salary cap constraints. New this year, teams have 2 additional roster spots for “development players“.

Each team plays a total of 44 games in the 2026 season. The Tempo will play two games in Montreal (July 10, 12) and two games in Vancouver (August 21, 23). Of the remaining 18 home games most are at Coca-Cola Coliseum, but three games will be in Scotiabank Arena (June 27, July 30, August 18).

Below are some key rules to know when watching:

  • Game Structure: Four 10-minute quarters.
  • Shot Clock: 24 seconds to take a shot (14 seconds after offensive rebounds).
  • Backcourt Violation: 8 seconds to cross half-court.
  • Timeouts: Five full timeouts per game, plus one “Reset” Timeout in the last two minutes.
  • Personal Fouls: Disqualified after 6 personal fouls.
  • Overtime: 5-minute periods until there’s a winner.
  • Bonus Free Throws: After 5 team fouls in a quarter, the opponent shoots two free throws.

Most home games will be played at Coca Cola Coliseum in Toronto which has a capacity of 8,500 for Basketball games. Three games will be played at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto which has a capacity of 19,800 for Basketball games.

Here are some key dates for the Toronto Tempo’s inaugural 2026 season:

  • April 3th, 2026- WNBA Expansion Draft
    • Expansion teams will pick select players from existing teams to build their initial rosters.
    • The expansion draft will also include Portland
  • April 13, 2026 –WNBA Draft
    • Teams take turns choosing eligible players, usually from college or international leagues.
  • April 29, 2026 – First Pre-Season Game!
  • May 8 – September 24, 2026 – WNBA Regular Season
    • Each team plays 44 regular season games.
  • October 2026 – WNBA Playoffs
    • Top eight teams participate in a single-elimination tournament.
    • Round one is best-of-three, Semifinals are best-of-five, and Finals are best-of-seven
